The Classic is back………….the Manx Classic that is

The Manx Classic gets the go-ahead for 2024.

The Longton & District Motor Club (LDMC) is holding one of Britain’s most revered hill climb events on closed roads in April 2024 and is looking to expand its Island marshal base for the event.

The Manx Classic has been running since 1989 for Edwardian, vintage, classic and modern sports cars. The event attracts a field of some ninety competitors from far and wide with a regular number of island-based competitors taking part each year in a wide range of classic and exotic machinery that recaptures the golden days of the sport.

The opening day on Thursday 25th April uses The Sloc in the south of the island. On Friday 26th April, the action heads west to Creg Willey’s (Glen Helen) and the event concludes on Saturday 27th April 2024 with one of the longest and best known hill climbs in motorsport, Lhergy Frissell out of Ramsey.

The running of an event of this size, across three locations and on three consecutive days in accordance with Motorsport UK regulations requires an army of people to ensure success. Up to 60 marshals are needed to assist with controlling paddock and startline areas and manning trackside course posts each day.

We are looking to attract some new faces to our family of marshals who will be helped and trained under the direction of the club's Chief Marshal. The club is acutely aware, along with our other colleagues across rallying and motorcycling just how much of Island motorsport relies on those that give up their time and make these events such a success, and recognises that their contribution is paramount in ensuring any event is run safely and efficiently for all those involved.

Should you feel that you are able to help us and support this nostalgic event for one, two, or all three days, we would like to hear from you regardless of any discipline, accreditation, or previous experience you may have,

So, come and join us and contact our Chief Marshal, Paul Dewar by email on This email address is being protected from spambots.
